IW5‑Mod (MW3)

Step 1 — Install the AlterWare launcher

1. Download the launcher from the official releases page: AlterWare Launcher (latest)
2. Save it somewhere easy to find, then move the launcher into your MW3 game folder (see Step 2 for the path).
3. You’ll run the launcher from inside your game folder so it can fetch the IW5‑Mod files automatically.

Step 2 — Locate your MW3 game folder

Find where Steam installed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011). Example path on Windows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Step 3 — Install the MW3 Dedicated Server (Steam)

1. Open Steam → Library.
2. Use the filter dropdown on the left to show “Tools”.
3. Find and install “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Dedicated Server”.
4. In Properties → Language, set it to English, then complete the install.

Step 4 — Place the launcher in the game folder

1. Move the launcher you downloaded in Step 1 into the MW3 folder from Step 2.
2. The launcher should sit next to other game .exe files.

Step 5 — Run the launcher

1. Double‑click the launcher and follow the on‑screen prompts.
2. The launcher will download and set up the IW5‑Mod files automatically.
3. When finished, use the launcher to play, or start the installed IW5‑Mod client directly as instructed by the launcher.

Troubleshooting

• If the launcher can’t find the game, confirm it’s inside the correct MW3 folder.
• If Dedicated Server is missing from the list, make sure the Library filter shows Tools.
